Pentland Pet Services Monthly Newsletter - February

I hope everyone survived the bitter cold and ice over the Christmas and New Year period.
The dogs all seemed to be having a wonderful time, although there were a few problems with little balls of ice collecting in paws causing a bit of discomfort until thawed out.
One of my enduring memories of the cold spell will be Max the little Shih Tzu who was only distinguishable from a snowball with eyes when he moved.

Many thanks to Milly, Bliss, Cody and Tasha  who helped cure my withdrawal symptoms from being dogless by permitting me to join in their walks occasionally.

During the dog lodging break I remained active and busy in the kitchen developing new dog treats. As a result PPS are now able to offer:
Bailey’s Bakes, a small round biscuit containing cottage cheese, liver sausage and oats.
Bliss’ Banana Bakes, a larger biscuit of banana (no surprise there), carrot, wheatgerm and oats.
                                      Tootsie’s Tuna Triangles.
All three will appear on the website when it is updated in the near future.

I had an interesting meeting with Lyndsey Usher who launched her Dog Walking business in January called 'Taking The Lead.'
If anyone is looking for a dog walking service I would be pleased to pass on contact details.

The 2011 calendar is filling up very quickly with a few bookings received for 2012.
Pre-lodging visitors kept me busy over December and January plus PPS had new trainees Roxy, a lovely Black Lab puppy, and Blue, a gorgeous German Shepherd Puppy.
And some of the local dogs will have already met Storm the Lurcher (mainly Saluki with a little Greyhound) who became the new member of  David and Julie’s family.

Both Roxy and Storm were rescue dogs having had a traumatic start to their young lives.
However, in true dog fashion, they have left those days behind and are loving life in their new homes.
Rowan the Black Lab was our first lodger of the season and enjoyed her few days catching up with some pals in the fields during walks.
As Rowan normally has her morning walk extremely early she rarely meets anyone else so made the most of her opportunities. Tahsa is a great favourite of Rowan’s so walks were arranged to allow the two pals to meet and have a romp together.

At the end of  February I was invited to give a short talk to a newly formed group called 'Puppy Parties' who meet on a Sunday at the Space Place in Prestwick.
What a great idea to provide an opportunity for new owners to get together, have the chance to meet with other new 'pack leaders' and have a talk from various people within the dog world.

Enjoy your walks and keep those tails wagging.

                                      Anne
